My favorite quote for today . . .

to the lives of others

cannot keep it

from themselves."

Animal House

I’m not sure why it took me so long, but I have finally embraced my love of animals and they are some of my favorite company. One of their adoring fans has requested a post to highlight each of them. So here goes….

Our oldest and largest furry family member is Suki. Suki is the sweetest girl. She has crystal blue eyes and a happy smile.

Suki loves to play fetch, but don’t expect her to bring the ball all the way back to you. She likes to leave it just out of reach and then stare at you and squeal for you to get it and throw it again.

She always wants to be where the people are and if new people come over, you can bet she’ll be all up in their business. She loves attention, loves to give hugs, and loves to go for walks with her favorite human, Cameron.
One of her favorite pastimes is barking incessantly every time someone walks by outside or dares to come to our door. We’re working on it. 😉

When Cam isn’t home she lays on his bed and pines for him. When she hears his car in the driveway, she bolts to the door to greet him.

She likes the rest of us too. Just not as much.

Suki loves to go on adventures. We can’t even touch the leash or pick up our keys without her running to the door.
She gets so excited that it just erupts out of her and she squeals non stop. It’s um, endearing.

Here is Suki with her cousin Pablo an enjoying a nap.

And there she is dressed up so cute for Halloween with her little sister. Can’t you tell she loved the costume so much? They were Elphie and Glinda because, duh.

We love our Suki girl. Her birthday is in July and she will be five years old!

The second oldest, but definitely the most “in charge” little diva in our house is Pluto. She’s named after the little planet, and the world definitely revolves around her. She’s technically Brooke’s dog, but Brooke doesn’t live here and I do. So, where I go, she follows. She lays at my feet (or on my lap) while I work and sleeps next to me on the bed at night. It’s the first time in my life I’ve ever had a dog -child that does that and yeah, we’re pretty bonded.

Depending on how recently she’s been groomed, Pluto has a variety of different looks - ranging from shaggy homeless dog to pampered princess pup.

She’s a true Velcro dog and sticks by my side if I am home. Of course if Brooke is home, then she loves her the most.

Another interesting fact about Pluto is that she is sometimes mistaken for the Easter bunny due to her once very unnatural pinkish, brownish, reddish ears that we did in fact, dye ourselves.

Just like Suki, Pluto also really, really loved having her Halloween costume on.

Car rides are one of her favorite activities.

Playing with Suki is also one of her favorite activities.

High on the list of favorite activities is also lounging, trying to eat cat food, getting treats, and being cute.

Pluto has a special skill of surprise attacking and licking toes and faces when it’s least expected. (Or desired)  I keep telling her we don’t like it, but she keeps doing it anyway, so we deal with it. Because she’s cute.

Suki and Pluto have some younger siblings that joined us by Way Of Austin and Summer delivering them and raising them until they could gift them to Cameron and Hailey. I was initially hesitant and John was, (and let’s be honest, still is) very reluctant to have cats join our family, but my heart opened right up to these little loves and I’m officially not only a dog mom, but also a cat lady.

We’ll start off by introducing the big boy… Sir Isaac Newton. He goes by just Newton or sometimes Newt.

When he’s not sleeping, Newton enjoys, going outside and chasing things (and sometimes killing things even though I’m sure he doesn’t mean to because he’s very sweet at heart. )

He also has an affinity for laundry baskets, preferably full of clean laundry. He loves to lay in them to make biscuits or just have a snooze.

This big cuddly boy will let us know when he wants a hug. He is just a softie and we love him so much.

Newton really enjoys trying to play with his sister Hazel, but she’s kind of sassy and often hisses at him and refuses to be his playmate. Boo Hazel.

I guess it’s time for the introduction of the second diva in our house.

Meet Hazelnut Latte. We really only call her Hazel, unless she’s being sassy, then the full name comes out.

She’s the other queen of the castle.

She’s a beautiful, soft, little calico who is Newton's litter mate but about half his size with twice the attitude.

Hazel enjoys climbing onto and into things. She’s not picky. Beds, chairs, desks, boxes, baskets, people. All are good.

She also loves rolling onto her back for chin scratches, looking beautiful, and snuggling her sister from another mister.

She can be sassy with her brothers and sometimes shy with strangers, but she loves to snuggle up to her favorite human, Hailey. When Hailey’s not home Hazel can usually be found in whatever room I’m in, and if I happen to be in the bathroom, she’ll likely be poking her paws under the door to let me know she’s waiting.

Our last but not least little furry baby is our newest addition, little Razzle Dazzle, or as we affectionately call him, Razzy. His name is a tribute to my beloved brother. That’s not the only reason he’s special though.  Razzy was a gift from Cameron to me for Christmas. He adopted him from the animal rescue that we love. (Alaqua)

Razz is as sweet as sweet can be. He has crystal blue eyes like Suki and his coat almost matches Plutos.

He purrs every time we touch him and loves to be where we are. We have a lot of animals in our home and I’m the “mama” to all of them, but Razz is the first one that’s been “my” pet. I have chosen, raised, and loved all of our pets over the years but they’ve usually “belonged” to one or all of the kids.  Razzy was adopted and gifted to me & I love that he’s my special little guy.

Razzy loves to perch on our various cat trees.

He also likes to help me work.

He adores his big brother. Newton was so sweet to him from the minute they met and they are the best of friends.

They love each other. All of our pets do. We’re lucky to gang such a sweet bunch.

These little creatures that share our home bring me so much joy. I never thought I’d have so many animals and love them so much, but here I am. I have ‘em and I love ‘em. Can’t imagine life without them.

They’re part of our family.
